Come and get ’em!
Who wouldn’t love these?? These are loaded with fruit, flaxseed and yogurt so your little ones get their protein too. I know alot of moms resort to giving their children store-bought popsicles but there are so many reasons why you avoid those. Especially when homemade are so delicious and good for you.
I’m sure you are familiar with this brand…
It is a brand directly marketed at kids, look at those bold, vibrant colors. Nothing natural about that. Have you looked at the ingredient list? Check out the first 4.
“Ingredients: water, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, contains 1 percent or less of the following: dextrose, malic acid, guar gum, citric acid, raspberry juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, cherry juice concentrate, modified cellulose, natural and artificial flavor, locust bean gum, red 40, blue 1.”
Sugar. Corn syrup = sugar. Corn syrup = Check out the last two ingredients. Food coloring. Did you know red 40 and blue 1 dyes are banned in Europe?? So why would I want them in my child. Well, the answer is simple, I don’t. These artificial food colorings have been linked to cancer, are known to trigger reactions in those with allergies and linked to hyperactivity in children. I get it, I may not always be able to avoid my kid eating sugar, artificial colors, and flavors but I will try my best to offer the best foods for her as often as I can and to avoid unnecessary chemicals and additives when possible.
These popsicles taste creamy, and peachy with just a bit of tang.
Grab your ingredients, the fresher the better. I did not have fresh peaches, so frozen had to do. I usually make my own yogurt, but I have a sick child this week so Oikos will have to do. 🙂
